How did you first get involved in the field of interior design?
I’ve always been involved in design, I previously worked as a gallery director in the fine arts industry. I’ve been inspired by interiors and architecture throughout my career. I recently made the move to interior design with my current role here at CLOTH & KIND and could not be happier about my new focus!

What was your path to directing the Cloth & Kind showroom?
My path to directing the CLOTH & KIND showroom was pretty quirky. My husband and I relocated from NYC to Detroit and I was on the hunt for really cool, interesting, creative companies. I followed C&K on instagram and quickly found myself always checking their account for new discoveries, whether it was art, textiles, or new projects. They really have a unique and well-honed style that I love. They posted an opening for the showroom and initially I was a bit hesitant, since my background wasn’t in interior design.

I found myself always checking in on the account to see if the showroom role was filled or if they’d posted a new team member and took that as a sign that I needed to take a chance and throw my hat in the ring.  A few months later I saw it was posted again and quickly sent my information over…and the rest is history!

What is unique about the culture at Cloth & Kind?
The culture at CLOTH & KIND is pretty singular. There’s an unofficial “no ***holes policy,” which is completely unnecessary because all of my colleagues are lovely ladies and are super fun to work with (girl power)! Krista and Tami really encourage everyone to seek out their strengths and pursue them, which helps the business as well as everyone working here thrive and grow professionally. In the past, I’ve definitely had very high pressure jobs that were lots of fun, but quite stressful. It’s nice to accomplish things and to work hard but it’s important to have fun doing your job as well and I think there’s a great balance in our office. We work really hard and get things done but I think we always try to have a little fun while doing so!

Describe your personal design aesthetic/decoration style.
My personal design aesthetic/decor style is fairly eclectic. I like things that are traditional and minimal but with an offbeat flair or a unique detail. I love antique items and love to search the auctions…I’m also just a little a bit of an art hoarder, my collection keeps growing even though I’m running out of space.

What is your favorite seemakrish textile?
I can’t pick just one! I narrowed it down to 2, Alta in Mist Gray and Union Square in Broadway Black.

What can’t you live without?
My family, good artwork, good food, and traveling
